For Educators & Lifelong Learners

"Environmental education is necessary in order to produce future generations who understand the environment and how to face the obstacles that occur. The educational system must equip these skills into the students while there are still young and receptive to learning about the environment (Wilson, 1996). The greatest threat to the environment is the loss of human connection to the Earth, which divides the responsibility for addressing the calamities caused by anthropocentric action. Therefore, the existing educational system must be changed since students are not given the necessary knowledge to build a connection to nature. Environmental education would produce skills to positively impact contemporary environmental health and climate change challenges. Education is a tool that, rather than perpetuating the current regime, should generate future generations that are aware of and capable of improving the world. As a result, the educational system must change in order to benefit students while simultaneously minimizing society's environmental effect" -Kira Videan, Introduction to Environmental Education paper
